Membership

CIRMMT Membership Categories

• Honorary Lifetime Member:  Honorary lifetime membership is given to CIRMMT Full or Associate Members who have retired from active academic service in recognition of their having made a highly significant contribution to the activities of CIRMMT over the course of their career.
  
• Full Member: This category includes senior researchers, such as faculty members from one of the partner universities, whose principal research affiliation is with the Centre.  Researchers cannot be full members of more than one research centre in any of the partner universities.

• Associate Member: This category includes senior researchers, such as faculty members from one of the partner universities, with significant research affiliation with the Centre.  Researchers can be associate members of more than one research centre in any of the partner universities.
• Affiliate Member: This category includes industry partners, adjunct professors, faculty members from non-partner universities, and visiting researchers.  Affiliate members are not eligible for CIRMMT funding and cannot sponsor student members.
• Post-doctoral/Graduate Student Member: This category includes Graduate and Post-Doctoral students working under the supervision of, or sponsored by, a CIRMMT full or associate member. 
  

How to apply for membership

• To apply for Full or Associate membership within CIRMMT, please submit your full curriculum vitae, a letter of intent and two letters of support from Full or Associate members to the Centre’s Executive Committee for review. Applications will be considered in a two-stage process.  Selected candidates will be required to present their work to the Centre’s research community before a final recommendation is made to the Board. 

• To apply for Affiliate membership, please submit your full curriculum vitae, a letter of intent and two letters of sponsorship from CIRMMT Full or Associate Members to the Executive Committee for review. 

• To obtain Post-doctoral/Graduate Student membership, please ask your CIRMMT supervisor or sponsor to submit your name, email address and academic details (department, academic program, year of study) to reception AT cirmmt DOT mcgill DOT ca.  Student members must be enrolled at one of our partner universities and must be working on a research project that is within the mandate of the Centre.

The term for Full, Associate and Affiliate Centre membership is up to three years, renewable.  The term for Post-doctoral/Graduate Student membership is up to two years, renewable.  The ratification of nominations for new Full, Associate and Affiliate Members of the Centre, as well as renewals of membership, is the prerogative of CIRMMT's Board of Directors.
